Safety Management System

At Oceansafe, Safety Management is regarded as an integral responsibility of all Managers and Supervisors, for which they are fully accountable. Onboard vessels, enforcement of Safety Management policies is the direct responsibility of key vessel officers, including the Captain, Chief Mate, Chief Engineer, and Second Engineer.

The company has identified key shipboard operations that significantly impact safety and pollution prevention. To ensure consistent and effective execution, Oceansafe has developed and documented detailed procedures, instructions, and checklists covering these operations.

All activities are conducted under controlled conditions, both onboard and ashore, and in strict accordance with established procedures. Qualified personnel are employed to carry out these duties at sea, while experienced shore-based staff are designated to monitor operations, provide technical support, and ensure feedback loops that enhance continuous improvement.

Comprehensive procedures and checklists guide the preparation of plans and instructions for essential onboard operations related to safety and environmental protection. In compliance with the ISM Code, these shipboard operations are further categorized into ‘Critical’ and ‘Special’ operations, ensuring heightened control and vigilance where necessary.”
